Fireboy fears water, Watergirl fears fire. But together, they must overcome all the traps, puzzles, and dungeons the Forest Temple sets out without touching any of the wrong elements.
What is Fireboy and Watergirl?
Set in the Forest Temple, Fireboy and Watergirl is essentially a teamwork puzzle: two characters, one goal, and a series of tricky dungeons standing between you and the exit. Every step counts, and rushing through without a plan is a reliable way to fail. That makes this game different.
How to win in Fireboy and Watergirl?
You control two characters, guiding them through more complex levels filled with varied terrain, tricky puzzles, and obstacles that demand careful timing. Going past each challenge is the only way to unlock the next door, and one wrong move can send you back to the start. Every decision matters, so think before you act.
Character breakdown
Fireboy looks exactly like you'd expect a fiery figure with flames for hair. He can walk through lava and collect red diamonds, but water is instantly fatal to him. Watergirl is his opposite in every way. She moves through water without a second thought and picks up blue diamonds, but lava will take her out immediately. The catch? Both characters share the screen at all times, so you need to keep track of both while ensuring that neither one stumbles into the wrong element.

Fireboy and Watergirl series
It's a six-part series, with each installment dropping the duo into a brand-new setting, complete with fresh obstacles and its own storyline.
Fireboy and Watergirl 1: Forest Temple, released November 19, 2009. The one that started it all, with simple mechanics, but don't let that fool you. The later levels will test your coordination more than you expect.
Fireboy and Watergirl 2: Light Temple, released October 26, 2010. Features 41 levels: 17 standard levels, 7 Simultaneous Design levels, 10 White Diamond levels, and 7 darkness levels. The mirror-and-laser mechanic is a genuine step up from the first game; figuring out the angle on a tricky puzzle feels genuinely satisfying. Fireboy and Watergirl 3: Ice Temple, released April 5, 2012. Comes with 37 levels in total: 20 standard, 6 Simultaneous Design, and 11 White Diamond levels. The ice physics change how both characters move, and that alone makes this one feel fresh.
Fireboy and Watergirl 4: Crystal Temple, released March 29, 2013. Players work through 39 levels to conquer the Crystal Temple: 25 standard levels, 5 Simultaneous Design levels, and 9 White Diamond levels. The color-coded portals sound simple until you're juggling three pairs at once.
Fireboy and Watergirl 5: Elements was released online on January 24, 2019. Building on everything from the earlier games, this installment is the biggest yet; 62 levels spread across seven different elements, including 49 standard levels and 13 White Diamond levels. It pulls mechanics from every previous game, so expect a serious challenge by the final stretch.
Fireboy and Watergirl 6: Fairy Tales, released in 2021. The fairy tale setting features 31 levels, comprising 26 standard and 5 hard levels, culminating in the experience. The fairy tale setting is charming, but those last 5 levels are where the game stops being polite.
Each installment has its own story and its own flavor of challenge. If you enjoy puzzles that actually make you think and adventures that keep you on your toes, this series is absolutely worth your time.
